Become the best listener you know. It’s not hard. I have been told that I am a leader who cares about my people. That understands my people. That takes an interest in my people. That wants to help my people. I have been told this by colleagues, management, and my team members. I attribute this to becoming a great listener. When you listen and understand people something triggers. They can trust you more than most.
I have not always been a great listener… Just ask my mom. I had to learn to become a great listener. For me there are just 5 simple rules to becoming a great leader.

Constantly work on your ability, your integrity, your benevolence, and your impact to improve your leadership
Use your telescope to set your goals and then use your microscope to set the commitments to get that goal and the steps you are going to take to achieve success!
I don’t need easy… I just need worth it. It’s worth the hard work for those things we feel are worth working for.

Two years ago I was 50lbs over weight. I was lazy, I exercised but not how I should have. I went through the motions, did my 30 – 60 minutes in the gym and left. 15 months ago I got an apple watch and focused on the health monitoring of the watch. It was pretty cool. The apple watch monitors three areas (Active Calories Burned, Exercise time, and Standing). It fills in a circle as you complete the goal. I thought it was fun and focused on getting these every day. Within 3 months I had lost over 30lbs and I have kept it off for over a year now. I contribute most of the weight loss to the method Apple uses.
